Adinath Temple

Adinath Temple is located on the top of Mainak Hill in Thakurtala village of Gorakghata Union of Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox's Bazar district . This temple has spiritual significance for Sanatan Dharmalambis. The temple is named Adinath after the Hindu deity Mahadev. Another name of Adinath is Mahesh, from which the name Maheshkhali is derived. The temple is situated at a height of 85.3 meters above sea level. Currently, there are Rakhine Buddhist Viharas and Mosques inside this temple complex, which is why many call the temple as a symbol of non-sectarian spirit. Every year in the month of Phalgun on the occasion of Shiva Chaturdashi, a 10/15 day long fair is held and thousands of visitors gather.

From Cox's Bazar you have to go to Kasturi Ghat or Jetty No. 6. Take auto rickshaw or CNG from anywhere in Cox's Bazar to Ghat. From Cox's Bazar's Kasturi Ghat or Jetty No. 6, you can get a speedboat to go to Maheshkhali by speedboat at a fare of Tk 80 per person, it will take 20-25 minutes to reach Maheshkhali. Apart from this, you can also go by engine boat. If you want, you can reserve a speedboat or an engine boat.
