Benapole Land Port Jessore

Benapole is a village belonging to Sharsha Upazila of Jessore district located near the border of Bangladesh and India . Benapole has a border checkpoint and an international land port, known as Benapole Land Port. As opposed to the Benapole land port operated by the Bangladesh Land Port Authority, the part of India known as Petrapole belongs to Bangaon Sub-division of West Bengal. And the rail communication system between Bangladesh and India is operational through Benapole railway station.

The land port of Benapole, known as the main center of land trade of Bangladesh and India, is located at a distance of about 80 km from Kolkata. About 90 percent of the trade between the two countries takes place through Benapole. As a result, the economically important land port of Benapole has a custom house for customs collection. Dhaka to Jessore by Train: Intercity Sundarban Express train departs Jessore from Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka at 8:15 am 6 days of the week except Wednesday and another intercity train named Chitra Express departs at 7:30 pm and Benapole 6 days of the week except Sunday. Express departs for Jessore at 11:45 PM on 6 days of the week except Wednesday. Class wise train ticket price is Tk 560-1,927.

Bangladesh Biman, US-Bangla Airlines and NovoAir operate regular flights on the Dhaka-Jesore route from the domestic terminal of Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport.
