Chittagong Zoo

Chittagong Zoo is the name of the wildlife conservation and research facility located in the heart of Chittagong, the commercial capital of Bangladesh. On February 28, 1989, Chittagong Zoo started its journey with 16 animals of four species, namely monkey, lion, deer and Hanuman, in a 6-acre area adjacent to Pahartali USTC Medical College.

Currently, the zoo has more than 300 animals of 72 species including mammals, birds and reptiles. Among them are Royal Bengal Tiger, Maya Deer, Asiatic Black Bear, Indian Lion, African Zebra, Chitra Deer, Sambar Deer, Mukhpora Hanuman, Para Deer, Owl, Rhesus Monkey, Reverse Lazy Monkey, Cheetah Cat, Pheasant, Peacock, Raj Dhanesh, Madantak, Tilaghughu, Bhuvan Chil etc. are notable.

Entry Fee and Schedule: To enter Chittagong Zoo, an entry ticket is required to be collected for Tk 70 per person. The zoo is open for visitors daily from 8 am to 6.15 pm.

You can go to Chittagong Zoo located on the opposite side of Faiz Lake by CNG or rickshaw from any part of Chittagong city.

Dhaka to Chittagong: Chittagong can be reached from Dhaka by road, rail and air. From Dhaka Sayedabad Bus Terminal Saudia, Unique, TR Travels, Green Line, Hanif Enterprise, Shyamoli, Sohag, S. AC-Non AC buses of various transports like Alam, Modern Line etc leave for Chittagong. Depending on the class, the bus fares range from Tk 650 to Tk 2000 per seat.

If you want to travel to Chittagong by train from Dhaka, you can travel by Sonar Bangla, Suborn Express, Turna-Nishitha, Mahanagar Prabhati/Godhuli, Chittagong Mail from Kamalapur or Airport Railway Station. Train fare will be Tk 405-1398 per seat. Besides, several airlines operate direct flights to Chittagong from Dhaka.

Faiz Lake opposite Chittagong Zoo has luxury resorts and cottages for overnight stays. Room rent in Fayez Lake ranges from Tk 4,000 to Tk 10,000 per night.
