Dooars India

Dooars is a popular tourist destination adjacent to Bhutan located in India . The word Dooars means entrance or door. Duars is literally the gateway to Bhutan and Northeast India. But Duars is not a single place name. The Duars region consists of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar in West Bengal and Dhubri, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Goalpara and Bangaigaon districts in Assam. Located in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, the people of the Duars speak about 138 languages ​​and dialects, including Bengali, Assamese and Nepali.

The wonderful natural environment is one of the assets of Duars. Mountains, rivers, forests, tea gardens are all here. Apart from the natural beauty there are Chapramari, Ghazaldoba, Buxa Tiger Reserve, Buxa Fort, Garumara National Park, Chelsa, Jaldapara National Park, Rajabhatkhawa, Bindu, Hasimara, Gorbatan, Jhalong, Murthy, Suntalekhola, Samsingh, Hanuman Temple, Rocky Island, Laliguras Ghora in Jhalang. Some wonderful places to visit.

When to go : Dooars can be visited throughout the year to enjoy the natural beauty, but Garumara and Jaldapara National Parks are closed from June to September.

Apart from SR Travels, Shyamoli Paribahan from Kalyanpur in the capital Dhaka, any other bus to Burimari will cost 700 to 1200 Tk. After completing the necessary work at the border, the fare to reach Lataguri by Tatasumo will be 3000 taka. In this case, you can rent a shared jeep for Tk 350 per person. It will take about 3 hours to go to Lataguri. And if you want to come from Kolkata, you can take the train to New Jalpaiguri and go to any place of your choice.

If you want to go anywhere in Duars, you can hire a car from Siliguri or New Jalpaiguri for as long as you need. Besides, buses ply from Siliguri to various places in Duars.

If you want to spend the night at the Garumara Jungle Camp located in Lataguri, you have to contact the Divisional Forest Officer (Jalpaiguri). It will cost 1000 to 1500 taka to stay here. Also there are several residential hotels of different quality in Lataguri, Malbazar, Chalsa.
