Harish Chandra Mound Palace Dhaka

Raja Harishchandra Dhibi is one of the oldest archaeological sites of Bangladesh in Majidpur of Savar Upazila of the capital Dhaka . Raja Harishchandra's Mound is known by different names as Raja Harishchandra's House/Raja Harishchandra's Vita/Raja Harishchandra's Palace etc. to local people. Majidpur has historical importance as it was the capital of the Sarveshwar kingdom ruled by the Pala king Harishchandra on the banks of the ancient Vansavati river in the 7th-8th centuries. It is believed that the name Savar originated from Sambhar, the capital of King Harishchandra.

An excavation in the 1990s led to the discovery of this archaeological heritage. Artifacts from King Harishchandra's mound include Harikela silver coins, gold coins and bronze Buddha images. Which is currently preserved in the Bangladesh National Museum.

There are several bus services going to Savar from different places in Dhaka. The distance from Gulistan Zero Point to Savar is about 29 km. Raja Harish Chandra's Mound is located at Majidpur in Rajasan area of ​​Savar Municipality. Raja Harishchandra Mound can be reached from Savar Bazar bus stand by hiring a rickshaw on the eastern road or on foot.
