Hussaini Dalan Old Dhaka

Hossaini Dalan (Hossaini Dalan) or Imambara is originally a shrine of the Shia community built in memory of Imam Hussain who received martyrdom in the desert of Karabala. Located on Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka, this structure is almost 300 years old. It is estimated that the Hosseini Dalan building was built in the 17th century during the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.

Entering through the portico of Hosseini Dalan, a holder of history and heritage, one can see the Shia cemetery, the main building and a huge garden. And there is a pond behind the main building. A silver replica of the Hosseini building is housed in the National Museum.

Every year on the first 10 days of the month of Muharram, on the occasion of the holy Ashura, the Hussaini Dalan festival is in full swing. Various events are organized here at that time. Also the traditional Tazia procession of Muharram departs from here.

Visiting schedule : Hosseini Dalan can be visited daily from 7 am to 10 pm.

From anywhere in Dhaka city, you can come to Syedabad or Gulisthan and take a direct rickshaw to reach Hosseini Dalan or Imambara located in Chankharpul area at your convenience.
