Musa Khan Mosque Dhaka

Musa Khan Masjid is an ancient three-domed mosque near Shaheedullah Hall of Dhaka University, with the memory of the twelve Bhuiyads of Bengal. The mosque built in the late seventeenth century was named after Musa Khan, son of Isha Khan, but the mosque was built by Masum Khan, son of Musa Khan. Musa Khan is lying in eternal sleep near the Musa Khan Mosque.

Inside the altar built on the base of a high platform are small chambers. There are 3 arched doorways in the wall of the mosque with an open balcony on the east side and two on the north and south sides. And there are three arches on the west wall. Apart from the main mehrab, the other two mehrabs are relatively small in size. Various Mughal style designs are displayed on the walls. Musa Khan Mosque has a total of 16 towers and minarets including 4 octagonal towers at the four corners. Besides, there is a tomb of linguist Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah in front of Musa Khan Mosque. The square on the western side of Curzon Hall of Dhaka University was once known as Baghe-Musa Khan or Musa Khan's Garden.

Musa Khan Mosque is located between the Shahidullah Hall of Dhaka University and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Science. You can go to Musa Khan Masjid from anywhere in the capital Dhaka by your own car or bus and come in front of Curzon Hall via Shahbagh and walk.

If you have time, you can spend an afternoon at Rose Garden, Ahsan Manzil , Shaheed Minar , Medical College, Doel Chattar, Suhrawardy Udyan, Institute of Fine Arts, National Museum or TSC.
