Putney Island Khulna

Putney Island is an island located in the beautiful Sundarbans of Khulna district called Putney Island. Its other name is Dwipchar to the local residents. The horizon on one side is the sea and on the other side is the dense forest with green grassy deserts and winding canals in between. In one word, Putney Island is beautiful. With the ebb and flow of the tide, the whole area is once floating and the next time it meets the sandy beach. The late afternoon sun sets here over the estuary of the Arpangasiya River and the Bay of Bengal.

Being a deer and fish sanctuary, Putni Island is not visited by fishermen and common people. However, many locals come to Putney Island to collect crabs. Although deer and fish roam the jungles and canals of this island, it is known that there is no tiger problem here.

If you want to visit Putni Island, you must get permission from the Forest Department. In this case you can contact Mongla Forest Division office or Hiron Point Forest Division office for permission. With permission, you can go to Putni Island by trawler from Mongla in Bagerhat via Dublar Char or Hiron Point.

There is no overnight accommodation in Putney Island. If you want to camp, pitch your tent out of the reach of tidal water. You can also stay in trawlers. Tourists are accommodated at Neelkamal at Hiranpoint, Kachikhali at Tiger Point and Katkay forest department rest houses.

If you can do the necessary shopping from Mongla, you don't have to stress about eating in the trawler or on the island.
